My love affair with monochrome continues. There’s something about it that’s simple but effective. I love clean lines and easy to wear clothing, and when it’s combined with black and white, I think its a great relationship. I came across this piece by Love label recently on Littlewoods Ireland and of course I instantly fell in love.
The design and contrast of the white on the top half versus the black on the bottom half is extremely flattering. I’m wearing a size 16 here, my standard size, but I was surprised how slimming it looked. The fit and flare style hugs your waistline then flows nicely into it’s A-line shape. The sleeves are a really nice length which are finished perfectly with the hint of white.
I paired the dress with these fabulous shoes from Fearne Cotton’s collection for Littlewoods. They have a slight glossy finish, but not in a tacky sense. And the stud embellishment on the shoes gives the dress a bit of edge and youth to it. Usually I wear shoes with a slight platform at the front for comfort reasons but I was really surprised at how comfortable they are. They have a great insole that feels like you’re walking on air. If you are petite then this style of heel is perfect for you to elongate your legs. And with a sale price at the moment of €17, you cannot go wrong!
I finished this look with the goddess of all handbags, a black leather with basket weave detailing by French Connection. It’s the ideal working girls handbag as it holds a multitude of things. My iPad, makeup bag, notebook and daily essentials all fitted perfectly without over cramming or breaking my shoulder! The photos really don’t do this bag justice, it’s so beautiful I actually want to hang it on my wall. 🙂 Monochrome really is something that will easily fit into your Summer. wardrobe and take you into next season.
