Plaid is certainly making waves this season. Everywhere I turn I see subtle hints to full statement items. Mainly I’ve seen plaid in smaller prints which is perfect for petite women or if you are quite slender, but for my shape, if the print is too small it can make me look like I’m wearing a pair of curtains. There are a lot of black and white plaid looks out at the moment so I liked the fact that this colour was a little different. The dress is from Dorothy Perkins and the style of plaid print is quite large so it’s much more flattering on my size 16 frame than other styles. The dress itself is really versatile so I’m showing it today in three ways.
For the first look, I decided to layer a faux fur gilet with my leather jacket. Together they make an extremely warm and cosy combination. It’s also a great way to add a different look to a leather jacket that you might have lying around.
The second look is with the gilet on its own, which is also from Dorothy Perkins. If you have a full printed dress at home it is a perfect way to break up the pattern, while creating a nice A/W feel to your outfit. I’m wearing a black and gold chain and arrow necklace to feed my accessories addiction, along with my black and gold leather strap bracelet, biker heels and a simple clutch.
The final look is the dress on its own. It’s a really nice and comfortable fit with a discrete pocket at the front. You can wear it with leather look leggings for extra warmth and put it with a pair of flat boots for a fresh day time look.
