This week I treated myself to a new Lancôme lippy. I was hoping to find something that wasn’t as drying as a lipstick as well as something that was thicker than the standard lip gloss. It was mainly for busy days when I don’t have time to keep topping up my lips throughout the day (we all have those days). As a result the lady at the Lancôme counter recommended L’Absolu Velours, Lancôme’s new matte liquid lipstick. I put it to the test over the last few days and with a vote over on my Instagram, everyone wanted to see a review, so here it is!
I opted for this gorgeous red shade which has hints of orange undertones in it. The tube itself is extremely neat with a good volume of product in it so I did feel like it was good value for money, when I consider how much I’ve paid for other lip products in the past. Eek!
The applicator is oval shaped with a sponge like texture. It’s one of the first times I’ve used something like this and it was amazing! The lipstick spreads really well and quite smoothly. You will literally can have your lips covered in one swoop! You don’t really have to re dip the applicator in for more colour unless you wanted an even brighter red.
Here is just one coat of L’Absolu Velours which felt extremely light. The product details say that it has a matte texture to it. I however, found it had more of a gloss texture to it for an hour before it turned to a matte finished. I actually preferred that as after a few hours my lips didn’t look like a prune rather the colour had just faded into a coral orange shade. I was really interested to see the results and I’m thrilled with the product. It has given me the push to embrace colour more often. Before I just didn’t want the hassle of having to maintain it throughout the day, but even when it faded, it looked perfectly presentable. I now find myself checking out all the other shades available in this range, so overall it is a highly recommended splurge!
