Colour block

Colour blocking has certainly become a keen favourite of mine. There is something so effortless about it, and it’s a trend that is not going anywhere fast. This colour combination was a particular hit for the SS collections by designers such as Celine, Prabal Gurung and Tanya Taylor, who utilised bold blue in a contrast relationship with black and white.

With Valentines Day just around the corner this would work perfectly for a dinner date look (maybe leave out the shades!), or for a night out single ladies style. The dress is from Littlewoods Ireland SS collection but its a piece that is quite transeasonal making it a perfect statement dress from now to throughout the Summer. And as it is a shift dress, there will certainly be no compromise on comfort!

This dress is double lined, a strong material and nicely fitted. I’m wearing a size 16 here which I found true to size and fitted perfectly. I added a monochrome Aztec print bag just for some added contrast. The colour placement is cleverly positioned in this dress. If you find your back is your broadest part (you are diamond shaped) this dress evens out your proportions, as the added caped sleeves gives a slimming look both in the front and the back. For tall ladies, you may need to wear flat shoes with as it might look very short on you otherwise. For Petite ladies you will find this comes in a petite version also.

These shoes remind me of a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti’s I had fallen in love with. They are however a fabulous fashion find from New Look for €20 from last season but you can find a similar style  here (super swoon!).

Is colour blocking something you would wear? How do you feel about wearing bright colours?

I’d love to hear your thoughts.
