Last week I was interviewed on RTE’s Two Tube by the gorgeous Blathnaid Treacy. I was asked to go to the studios to speak about working as a curvy model, how Style Me Curvy began followed by winning Best International Fashion Blogger last October from Cosmopolitan, so there was a lot to squeeze in! 🙂
I had seen this dress in River Island about two weeks ago and fell in love with the design, there was something very Preen SS14 about it with the attention to a geometric cut – if you haven’t seen their collection check it out here. The material is a lightweight scuba fabric and gives the illusion of a body con look from the bust to the hips, but as the material is heavier than elastane it is extremely flattering. The wrap over effect adds to it which is done in a ‘oh so chic’ way. It looks beautiful without leggings too but as it was snowing that day I had to wear them.
The colour combinations and print detailing is extremely unusual too. The dress is sleeveless and has a Sports Luxe vibe. The lack of material around the arms may not be for everyone but you can easily team it like I did with this H&M biker jacket. Another biker jacket yes I know I have a problem but it differs from my other jackets with this shell detailing around the sleeves. It was also a great way to justify buying another one!haha 🙂
This is the kind of dress that took me by surprise by how comfortable and flattering it was in various ways. It’s extremely reasonably priced too at €60/£45 so I would highly recommend that if you see it in your local River Island to try it on! The size ranges from a size 6-18, and if other retailers are reading this who cater for bigger sizes, please keep designs like this in mind. You can never have enough fashionable and comfortable options for bigger sizes too! Lou. x Details: Dress – River Island wearing – size 18. Price, €60/£45 available sizes 6-18.
