Vintage Charm

Theres a certain lingering charm I find about vintage fashion. It has a story and a certain mystery about it. Looking back I haven’t explored a huge amount of it on Style Me Curvy, which is something I’m going to look into more for the future. This shoot came about through coming into contact with Minnesota based photographer Ally Seracki, who was looking to work together in London. She mentioned she wanted to have a vintage feel to the shoot with soft curls, so here is what I put together.

The dress is a fit and flare piece from my wardrobe. The belt I found in a second hand store in germany for €10 which matched my tan shoes from River Island. The overall feel taps into some 1950s Grease inspiration, with a light tennis jumper draped over my shoulders which I found in a cute vintage store in London last month.

We shot this look at a few different locations around London including this scrap yard which introduced an interesting comparison in fashion terms. A juxtaposition highlighting the importance of recycling our material goods or even looking at things in a different light. Try not to throw away clothing you might have fallen out of love with, recycle it or bring it to a local vintage/charity shop. What may no longer appeal to you personallycould actually be of great interest to someone else. At the moment I have two full bags of clothing to go to a charity store, including some vintage handbags. It’s good to pay it forward! 🙂
