Checkered prints have been a popular trend choice this year featured by designers such as Balmain and Ralph Lauren, not to mention a favourite by celebrities like Zoe Deschanel, Rihanna and Kristen Stewart.
I’ve been forewarned about this print in the past because it can add bulk to your body, but once you get the right print thats half the battle. This dress caught my eye two weeks ago in River Island. It was the loose fit shape combined with the actual size of the print that I really loved about it. The bigger the print the more flattering, small checkered blocks would in fact make you look bigger than you are.
As this is an oversized dress you will definitely have to go down a size or even two depending on your preferred fit. Usually I take a 16 (EU42) in River Island, here I’m wearing a size 14 ( EU40) as it gave more structure across the shoulder and chest. It’s an ideal dress for Summer weather as it is something you can really dress up or down.
I quite liked the finer details of the two gold zips either side of the dress. For accessories, I paired some gold stacked rings from H&M and a cute mini satchel bag from Penneys because less is sometimes more especially with so much going on in the dress.
