I found myself playing around with a lot of different product the past three weeks as well as rekindling my love with items I haven’t used in a while. There is something here covering a broad range of beauty products from makeup to hair and even waxing, all in a miniature review style.
First up from my beauty roundup has to be Roger & Gallet’s Fleur de Figuier nourishing oil for hair & body*. A product which has been really thought out. With some oils I find too much comes out at once but this resembles more of a perfume spray, which makes it very easy to apply to your hair and body without giving it ‘oil over kill’! The scent is beautiful and if you are using a few sprays then perfume won’t be necessary as the scent lingers throughout the day of an orange zest and floral goodness- ( similarities to Gingembre rouge!) It really gives a beautiful fresh and happy holiday feeling to your day.
Price: €26.95 /£21 at most Roger & Gallet Stockists.
Chic Treat Club, a month beauty box subscription I was gifted to try out for the month of June. Beauty boxes have been really popular over the last year so I was interested to see what the Chic Treat Club was about. The packaging was really lovely with a box you can easily reuse for storage. It contained three full sized products and two smaller items which were really useful. They were items I wouldn’t necessarily think of buying myself, but they were certainly welcomed.
Waxperts Ingrown Hair pads are a genius invention. They prevent and treat ingrown hairs on any part of the body after shaving or waxing. The Waxperts pads initially look like makeup removal pads but with small exfoliating fibres and salicylic acid to help get rid of any lumps and bumps.
Next was a DIVINE lemon myrtle hand cream from Bia Beauty. I’m completely addicted to the smell, it reminds me of fresh lemonade when I was a kid. The scent lingers for some time after application and the ingredients of shea butter and beeswax are quite subtle. What I liked most was how the product dried in quite quickly allowing you to go on with your daily schedule within a minute.
Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula was nice but a little too oily for my liking. If your feet are feeling extremely tired then this is very relaxing before bed, theres no doubt about that. However you would need to let it dry for at least 20 mins before you get under your sheets or you will be left with a sticky foot feeling. eek!
Sleek Eye Dust, from a makeup company that’s new to me, provided a silver high pigment eyeshadow which was quite nice. The colour perhaps not for me but the consistency was lovely and it’s always nice to try out new makeup products especially for €3.99/£2.99. Certainly a nice introduction by Chic Treat Club.
The final product was a sample of Dream Water which aims to act as a natural sleep aid while reducing stress levels. Personally I didn’t notice a huge difference and the taste was somewhat funny but I’m sure there are other people out there that might love it.
A Chic Treat Club box comes in at €15/£10 per month but works out cheaper if you subscribe either in a block of 3 months to 6 months or even a year. As there is something different every month it is something I am definitely looking into myself more regularly.
Hair masks are a must have when it comes to looking after my hair. I try to mix up my products when I can so this month I decided to try Redkin’s ‘All Soft’ mask for dry or colour treated hair. With any hair mask I find my hair gets the best results when I apply it the night before to dry hair and sleep with it in. To avoid any ‘hair stuck to face’ situations I tie my hair up in a loose topknot. For a good two days you will find your hair is like silk with a beauty soft shine to it. Best value find: €20.19/£16 onlinehere – or in salons starting at €25/£20 and upwards. It might seem pricey but to really keep your hair nourished and repair it from damage high end products are always worth it.
This is one of my favourite nail polishes for both colour and durability. I bought this last year and came across it again recently in my beauty box ( and yes there was a happy dance). Forgetting how much I loved the product it of course had to make my list for this month! Best value, Boots: €5/£4.49
The Tangle Teezer is something I kept hearing about so I finally decided to invest in one as my hair gets tangled nearly twice a day – (long hair girl problems). There are cheaper ones on the market which I did try in the past but they really pale in comparison to this one as I’ve been using it for a few weeks now. The bristles are soft but durable enough to gently get through even the frizziest or tangled bed heads. When using this, start from the hair ends and work your way up to the root- not the other way around to in order to get the best results that are soft on the hair fibres. Best Value here (various colours) : €15.93/£12.60 or starting at €20/£15 in most stores. Have you girls tried any of the above? If so, what are your particular favourites? Lou.x
