The denim dress really came back on the fashion radar this year. I came across this versatile piece two weeks ago from River Island and it struck me as one of the more unusual denim looks I’ve seen so far with more of a shirt dress vibe. It is a piece which is extremely versatile whether you might be going to a festival or perhaps you might be looking for a casual yet pretty date night look.
I liked that fact that it had a band around the waistline to give definition to my body as opposed to just draping over it. For apple and pencil shapes this look will highlight your waistline, for tall girls this is a great item as it will still sit at a nice length so you won’t have to worry every time you sit down! For those with more of a V-shaped frame the combination of the V cut neckline and sleeves with add more balance to your body.
When it comes to choosing a denim dress, the lighter the denim fabrics means the more breathable it will be and so an ideal choice for this time of year ; it’s easier for packing if you’re a Travelista, and it also means layering for later on in the season is simple.
When it comes to accessories for a dress like this, I tried to be delicate. As this denim piece has an acid wash effect this in itself grabs most of the attention. As a result I thought some nude heels and a simple festival inspired bracelet were more than enough. For handbags there are a number of pieces that could easily work with this. To keep it in line with the look I was going for I kept to a neutral brown shade. This is one of my favourite Guess bags as there just seems to be a lot of character about it. I’ve had it for a number of years now so I’ve added links below to similar inspired pieces.
