Yesterday kicked off day 1 of London Fashion Week where I seem to have met someone from every part of the world, even fashion bloggers from Australia have flown over for the week! So far I’ve had the incredible opportunity to go behind the scenes to some great shows to see the hair and makeup details for the likes of Bora Aksu, Paul Costelloe, Bursardi and Fyodar Golan with the Amo Pro hair and makeup team. For my beauty junky readers I can tell you that the Bobbi Brown foundation palette and Label M hair products appear to be the LFW beauty team favourites but that’s all for another days post. I will be doing a full post soon of behind the scenes over the next week. For today, I’ve uploaded this outfit post along with some instagram images from the live shows.
For day one I wore head to toe Littlewoods Ireland. The skirt was something I instantly fell in love with. It’s ideal for apple shapes who want to add definition to your midriff area which is what I really liked about it as it gives more of an hourglass shape. This is also a great tip for pencil shape frames or for those who are looking to give more of a curvy shape to their frame.
As the skirt is quite bold, I chose a simple black top as a contrast. I then added this stunning 3D necklace with baby blue and silver detailing which was a real statement piece. For shoes, these open toe boots were ideal as they gave a modern twist to a Grace Kelly inspired look.
In the morning I had paired the look with this beautiful biker jacket from Fearne Cotton’s collection, but as the weather got to around 23 degrees I didn’t last very long in it!haha!Although I’ve been wearing it most evenings when the weather gets a lot cooler.
Bora Aksu
This show was really beautiful, on one hand there was a concentration on white looks and hints of peachy pastels. On the other, was an array of violet and lavender tones from the pale to the deepest tones with intricate modernised lace details.
Paul Costelloe
I had the opportunity to interview Paul Costello himself backstage and when I asked about the key elements to his Spring Summer Collection his words were ” I am stepping away from prints embracing a melange of colours, concentrating on the texture of my fabrics”. He has chosen variariations of blues from the bright turquoise to navy, while delving into more striking tones from metallics to neon orange and greens with soft, feminine silhouettes.
Felder & Felder
Lots of aquas, hot ibiza inspired shades were seen at this show. It was fun and energetic with some stunning kimonos and maxi dresses to give a beautiful boho chic twist to the collection.
Christopher Raeburn:
