As some of you may know, Style Me Curvy was nominated in July for Best International Fashion Blog of 2014 by Cosmopolitan Magazine . I was absolutely thrilled to have won it last year and to be nominated for a second year in a row was just amazing. I was really excited to go along to the event regardless of the outcome to meet fellow blogging friends and enjoy the night at the OXO Tower in London.
All the blogger girlies! ( links at the bottom of this post!)
There were a number of bloggers who flew in from various countries including the gorgeous Tarah Lynn from Adorned In Armor who flew in from New York for the event. There were over 48,000 applications which were whittled down to 14 categories. The categories ranged from new fashion blogs, nutrition, travel, lifestyle, relationship blogs and of course social media.
Throughout the night there were amazing cocktails from Pinky Vodka, but unfortunately I had a 7am call time for a shoot the next day so I had to just appreciate their prettiness! There was wonderful hair styling from Remington and makeup from the MUA makeup academy which added to the night all the more.
Sophie of I Yaa Sophie, Monica from Moth Loves , Jess from The Travelista, Moi & Nic from Nics Nutrition When it came to awards time we were brought into a separate room with a beautiful seated area and a small stage where Editor In Chief of Cosmopolitan Louise Court and Digital Editor Kate Lucey would announce the winners. The voting was decided by a 50% public vote as well as 50% from the judging panel.
With Gracie Francesca from The Ugly Face Of Beauty About 8 categories into the awards “Best International Fashion Blog” was announced. To my utter shock the words Style Me Curvy was called out with my blog header featured on a big screen. My friend Nic from Nics Nutrition actually had to nudge me to go up on stage as I don’t think it registered in my head. It was more like a blur followed by a Bridget Jones moment in my head of ‘ DON’T FALL LIKE YOU DID LAST YEAR!!’ haha.
With Editor In Chief of Cosmopolitan Louise Court and Digital Editor Kate Lucey Winning this awards for a second year means more than words can say. I adore blogging for you all and I am so thrilled it’s a platform which enables me to speak about diversity in fashion in an indirect way through fashionable means. I’m equally as grateful to be listed among so many amazing bloggers that were at the Cosmo Blog Awards who are so talented, funny and passionate about their readers and have too shown such incredible support towards me over these past two years. On more of a personal note for my readers, I want to thank each and every one of you who voted for me, those of you who take the time each day to read this blog, who send on your wonderful comments and emails on a daily basis because thats what keeps this blog going, knowing it’s making a difference however small it may be.
What I Wore:
I’d been looking for a dress for the awards but as it’s in between seasons in stores at the moment nothing really took my fancy. I decided to wear this LBD which I’d only worn once and its something which sits on my body like a second skin. I bought it around Christmas in River Island but I’ve seen a number of similar ones recently which are linked below. 🙂 The dress looked quite short when paired without tights so I found a simple black skirt in H&M for €5.99/£4.99 in a matching material which gave it that extra length I was looking for.
Dress: River Island ( Last Year) Similar here, here and here, Jewel cuff – similar one currently in Primark for £5/€6, shoe boots – Littlewoods Ireland, Clutch – Primark £6/€8. Underskirt : H&M €5.99/£4.99
