Today’s post is just a first of many for Christmas Party looks on Style Me Curvy. This look is extremely easy to put together and depending on your choice of shoes or boots, you could add a pair of nude tights with the Winter chill creeping in. There are three key elements to today’s look, a statement necklace, a crisp satin blazer and beaded black shorts. All of which can be individually used to create and add to a number of smart and party wear looks.
Every Christmas sequins and beaded numbers are a wardrobe favourite, and something which never seems to date. The difficulty however with this kind of detail is finding something that works for you as not all styles I’ve seen can be flattering on. Beaded shorts or skirts are a great way to add a hint of a festive feel if you’re not keen on trying full sequins just yet. Todays shorts are from Topshop. They are double lined with a wide leg so you don’t feel any discomfort or detail rubbing in your thigh area. The waist has an elasticated stretch which makes them even more comfortable. They can be styled a number of ways; such as added with black peplum stop to give the illusion of a dress. You can pair it with fitted cashmere jumper, black tights and heels for a more cosy feel or with a silk shirt in a burgundy shade for an effortless chic look.
Cream or white blazers are a great investment piece to have around this time of the year as its a great way to break up black and block colours. This satin finish gives and instant dressed up feel to any look and complements todays black items with a sleek tuxedo-eque vibe. I came across it in River Island and its a quite generous size – here wearing size 12 where I would normally take a 16. As River Island goes up to a size 18, girls who are a size 20/22 could easily adopt this number into their wardrobes also. To achieve other looks with this blazer pair it with dresses or ripped skinny jeans and a cute top with heels for a more casual but dressed feel.
Today was very much tapping into texture. Statement necklaces will be your best friend when it comes to revamping a look from your wardrobe or merely dressing up something plain. This number from River Island has a total wow factor about it as its so unusual and exceptionally glamorous. Its a combination of gun metal stone in a gold tone setting and chain. A necklace like this can be restyled in a number of ways even with how I style something similar here. In terms of clutch bags there are a multitude of styles you could go for but as there is so much texture in this look I would stick so something on the same colour chart so either black or cream/white.
