Last month, Slink Magazines16th issue was released. I had worked with this magazine about three years ago for their second ever issue which was then an online magazine. Since then Slink has gained incredible international momentum found across the U.S, New Zealand, the U.K and various newsstands in Europe as a curvy and plus size magazine. Being asked to model for this project was extremely important to me as it deals with a melting pot of issues within the fashion industry in an indirect way. In the shoot I was essentially the Slinkette Doll playing various different characters which all challenged beauty perceptions. Each doll is quite different dipping into various issues of feminism and body positivity. It’s not often you would see a size 16 model wear Stella McCartney for Adidas collection in an editorial!
As body image is very close to my heart both as a model and a blogger, I really enjoyed the whole experience as I know Slink and editor Rivkie Baum are deeply rooted in promoting diversity in fashion. What I also loved is the interactive element to it, so you can download the Blippar app and upload a photo of yourself to the cover too! Below are a selection of just some of the shot images as well some behind the scenes. If you are reading this from Ireland you can purchase the magazine here.
