SUEDETTE. This will be your most used fashion buzzword for the next few months, I assure you!
It ties in of course with the 70’s trend that can been seen on a huge variety of catwalks this year from Burberry, Derek Lam to J.W Anderson.
I’ve picked this topic today to show how flattering this fabric truly can be as many of you seem to be unsure about it. Firstly there is a big difference between suedette and suede. Suedette is imitation suede, usually made from cotton or rayon and the standard is so high you would never think otherwise. Overall I find people can be put off by suede because the fabric is much thicker, harder wearing and with little flexibility. While it looks great in jackets and coats to keep a good structure, for other items like dresses or skirts, it can be restrictive and give more lumps and bumps to places we never knew existed, which thankfully doesn’t happen with suedette! Yay!:)
In terms of practicality this dress has been a dream to wash. Keep it separate from your whites of course as copper shades like this can run. Unlike it’s real suede counterpart, it won’t stain by small things like hand prints and what’s more is that it’s dry clean free!
For fit, this style of fabric sits on your body really well, it’s extremely soft meaning it works with your shape and the comfort factor is high! It’s the practical way to wear the suede trend for sure this season and so far I’ve purchased three skirts in the material for Autumn Winter. I’ve added a widget below with some options and style ideas including details from today’s outfit.
