There is always a subtle charm about Bora Aksu’s catwalk show with his delivering ethereal and idyllic beauty. It’s one of the shows I look forward to the most at Fashion Week as designs are curve friendly and incredibly elegant, not forgetting his beautiful invitations which are hand drawn by the designer himself. Known for his signature cocktail dresses, the London based Turkish designer didn’t disappoint with his collection inspired by his early childhood memories in Turkey at his family’s country house surrounded by orange, lemon and pomegranate trees. There was a definite fairytale vibe to the collection from his choice of colours of pastels, crisp whites to bolder shades of fuschia and orange, met with his varied use of textures from brocade to tuille.
Makeup:
The models all alluded a doll like charm. The makeup was perfectly soft, light and luminous which makeup artist, Yin Lee, achieved with Catrice Cosmetics while prepping their skin with Dermalogica. Some models had face lace details temporarily placed on their foreheads as well as lace detail running up their hands in keeping with Aksu’s feminine and floaty collection. Hair was kept quite minimalist but with the slightest hint of movement in a low sleek ponytail and a three quarter split hair parting. Simple but effective allowing the collection to speak for itself.
