Last Friday the Peter Mark VIP Style Awards took place which is a glittering red carpet event that happens in Ireland every year. A night which is all about fashion, style and of course the dress! When it comes to floor length dresses, finding something in a size 16 is always a tough one to come across, it’s something which in 2016 is still sadly such an issue. Cari’s Closethowever, is an Irish boutique who are going to be stocking more varied sizes over the coming months in their Dublin, Cork, Galway and Belfast stores which is fantastic to see. One of which is this Jovani statement gown which I wore on the night. I wanted something that was colourful and a full skirt effect so this was perfect as it was a halterneck style in silver diamante detailing.
Hair:
As the dress was quite feminine I wanted to do something quite sleek with my hair to give a contrast. I had my highlights done during with week in McAuley Scanlon and on the day itself Peter Mark had kindly invited me to have my hair done for the event. I had tried this style before and it was really low maintenance however it takes a professional to achieve it properly. Aarron in Peter Mark straightened my hair section by section, then delicately added layers of product to key areas. It was pinned and gelled at the sides and then completely combed back at the front off my face which is why having fresh highlights with this kind of look would be needed. It’s definitely not something I wouldn’t attempt to do myself as it is quite tricky but once it’s done you don’t have to touch it for the rest of the evening which was amazing!
Accessories:
As the dress was quite detailed I wanted to keep things quite simple. This statement Casablanca bracelet by Stella & Dot worked perfectly as it was the same colours as the halter neck area. For a clutch bag, I happened to find this gem in the wedding guest section in Primark which finished the look off.
