Last month I ventured to Donegal to shoot with family owned Irish company, McElhinneys. They have a huge online presence which grew rapidly from their large store of Ballybofey. I envisaged a big store with a good womenswear department, however what I didn’t expect was a mini shopping centre to be exact. Floors upon floors of fashion and hidden pockets of style to be found everywhere. The top floor was for occasionwear, where I was really overwhelmed by the size selection from sizes 8-28.
There were wonderful variations of outfit choices, you would be confident to know that you could go to a red carpet event with gowns by Pronovias for example ranging up to various curvy sizes. On trend looks for wedding guest fashion, alternative occasionwear pieces like the bold pink jumpsuit by Kevan Jan featured in this post, or for a Bride To Be, regardless of size, you will be sure to find something in their stunning Bridal Rooms which I’ll have to go back to another time just to take photos for you all. In today’s post however, I picked three of my favourite looks from the shoot with McElhinneys, two formal and one casual everyday look.
Casual cool
Sunglasses: Pilgrim at McElhinneys
This statement jacket is a perfect summer weight. It’s light and breathable yet instantly dresses up a pair of jeans and a plain top. This look is total weekend chic that you will get tonnes of mileage out of. It’s ideal for those of you who want to break up a lot of dark shades in your wardrobe, or simply you’re just looking for a jacket with an added twist.
Day to night style
This high neck culotte jumpsuit is even more beautiful in reality. It’s something you can wear with flat sandals for during the day, simple black heels for a meeting, or add a pop of colour and some statement shoes to create an instant evening outfit. If you follow me on Snapchat you might have seen my videos of the McElhinneys shoe department. It was complete and utter shoe inspiration, I felt like I was in Carrie Bradshaw’s closet!
The statement look
Jumpsuits are always my thing. I do have a tendency to be instantly drawn to them, but I remember being in the store and one of the staff members said, “This looks nothing on the hanger but you have to try it on”. It was hands down the most glamorous jumpsuit I’ve ever worn. Definitely a look that could be work on the red carpet, to a gala dinner, or an occasion where you just want something wow.
