Day one of London fashion week was definitely about hitting the ground running. I was filming for two video projects including a London Fashion Week piece, so I wanted something easy to wear but still Fashion Week inspired. I was so lucky to have Addison Lee as my car sponsors again this season as they helped to get me to shows on time which can be tricky when certain runway shows can finished late or you are trying to get to the other side of the city inside a short time frame!! My look for LFW Day 1 was very 60’s inspired but something which was comfortable and perfect to take on what the day had in store.
This style of dress, while the print may not be for everyone, is certainly a style to keep on your radar. 60’s shift style is one of those cuts that will work on a number of body types. This works in particular if you are unsure of what shape you are exactly or struggle with dressing mixed proportions ( e.g fuller on top compared to your lower half and vice versa). The dress is from a brand called Savida in Dunnes Stores which is Irish based but you can buy it online and I’ve added different styles at the bottom of the page too. While I didn’t wear my coat for the whole day I did have it to layer over my shoulders early that morning and when it got cooler that night.
In terms of shoes, this kind of dress will work with a number of styles from knee high boots, to kitten heels, stilettos or ankle boots as I’ve worn today. Ankle boots are a huge trend this year and I made a rule with myself this Fashion Week to be more sensible with my shoe choices after learning the hard way in New York – if it was going to be a heel, it had to be mid height or block! So thankfully these ankle boots came at the perfect time and they were on sale too!:)
As I knew I would be filming on the day followed by an event that night I went to the lovely people at Aveda that morning who gave my hair a loose wave effect. It’s a style I struggle to do myself, I can do curly or straight but find it hard to get that in between look which worked really well for the day that was in it. My sunglasses are the Kate Spade Carlisa style sunglasses which were sent to me from The Sunglasses Shop and the bag is a statement find from Zara. While it would only hold a small amount of items it was a nice combination with the dress and frill effect detail. Ideal for someone who brings just essentials with them.
