The Summer Playsuit

When it comes to Summer style, playsuits ( or romper if you are in the U.S) are certainly a love / hate relationship for many. It can be a situation where one bad experience of a wrong cut or style might have put you off them altogether or perhaps you are still on the hunt for that perfect fit or style. Some people are playsuit obsessed and find them to be a summer essential – I’m more in the middle of the road; I love them once I get the fit right but as I have a long torso it means I do have to look around alot. So todays post deals with some of my favourite “style go to’s” when it comes to playsuits and some tips and tricks on how to find the right style and fit for you.

Today’s playsuit is a wrap effect meaning it will work perfectly for a variety of bust types. There is an invisible button under the seam to keep the wrap style in place so you don’t have to worry about wearing a top underneath. I picked this particular style to show you as it has an elastic waistband meaning it will work on a variety of body shapes and curvy frames. There is a huge selection of styles like this at the moment and if you want to cover the band simply add a thin belt. The chiffon fabric styles that are double layered also have a tendency to flow over your body or not cling to certain areas like other materials can. So if this is a concern that has put you off playsuits in the past perhaps it’s the material that has put you off and not the actual style.

Other style ideas and shape tips:

Cheat the playsuit effect:

This is ideal for people who may not have time to try different playsuit / romper styles. It can be done quick simply by finding a shorts and top combination in a similar texture and shade. I find silk like or slight loose style tops to be the best as you can tuck them into the shorts and a festival inspired belt to give the overall illusion of a structured playsuit/romper. This way it won’t matter what shape or height you are once you have the other proportions right.

Long body:

Long torso’s can make shopping for playsuits to be extremely difficult! Over the years my “long body go-to’s” have been M&S, Warehouse and Asos Tall ( you don’t have to be extremely tall to shop this section especially when it comes to something like playsuits).

Wide hips & Bum:

You might find that the more tailored straight cut styles tend to rise or feel too short ( I promise this happens to everyone!) . Instead look to styles which have a more a-line cut across your hip area without hiding your curves either –  for example the style in todays outfit post
