Day one of New York Fashion Week was a brilliant start to the week with some of my favourite designers like Tadashi Shoji, Noon by Noor and Desigual showcasing their Spring Summer 2018 collection – I’ll be sure to go into more on this later in the week. For day one of Fashion Week I collaborated with one of my favourite brands, Primark. I had two outfit options as I wasn’t quite sure what the weather would be like when I got to New York and as it was cooler than expected, I opted for this long sleeve 60’s inspired look.
Lately I have a slight obsession with frill details and soft subtle A-line cuts that flow with your body. The colour wouldn’t have been a typical choice for me but one thing I love about Fashion Week is that I always try to push myself to embrace new colours or certain prints that I may have shied away from in the past. It was one of my best fashion decisions as it made a statement but still had all the comfort factors I was hoping for ( I had 6 shows to get through on the first day so that was pretty important!). I also wanted to keep in mind a style that would work on various body types and something that you could either wear bare legged or with black opaque tights for a more dressed down look. You could easily add a faux fur gilet or a suede jacket to give it more of an Autumnal vibe if you wanted. In terms of accessories the shoe boots were one of the most asked about parts of the outfit – simple grey ankle boots with stud detail. They were incredibly easy to walk in and the block heel meant running in heels was manageable!! Handbag wise I chose something more Chanel inspired – quilted with biker chain detail which worked as a nice soft contrast against the print of the dress. The sunglasses (something no Fashion Week look is ever complete without in New York!haha!) were definitely a statement 60’s chic meets designer vibes and certainly my bargain find for €2.50!
