Day two was more of a statement look than my typical style, but if you can’t go all out at Fashion Week when can you? There was of course another meaning to this look all driven by this t-shirt. Diversity in fashion is something that will always be close to my heart and I thought it would be most fitting for something like a Fashion Week – River Island recently launched their Labels Are For Clothes campaign which is incredibly diverse – I just adored it.
In terms of my trip so far, I’ve seen just a sprinkle of diversity in Milan on the runway, but I am however blown away by the high end fashion choices available for curvy and plus size women here. On my way back from a show I walked into a store today which had the same appeal and standard as Selfridges or a Neiman Marcus – it was in fact a Marina Rinaldi store dedicated to curvy women. When I went into the Mango store beside the Duomo and I’m greeted by an entire floor dedicated to size 16+ from their Violeta by Mango collection with the most up to date trend led pieces available. On my first day here I saw the Elena Miro Show which displayed stunning presentation skills, the most beautiful attention to detail for sizes all the way up to a size 28. It was so incredibly refreshing to see most importantly because they all shared the same common thread – they celebrated fashion and style for its true meaning, for everyone, without judgement.
