When it comes to occasion wear having new options are always welcomed particularly when its both a reasonable price point and the size ranges in size 6-20 ( hopefully more sizes will become available in the near future). I feel though we might just slowly be seeing a turning point in Europe whereby designer options are becoming more available at various sizes or more mindful towards collaborating with high street brands to create size diverse lines. In the main the U.S reigns as the capital of curve friendly options across both High Street and designer wear which is why todays post is teaming some occasion wear inspiration with a designer spotlight twist.
A few weeks ago Debenhams announced their line with U.K designer Richard Quinn who’s career has sky rocketed since his M.A graduated collection in 2016 for Central Saint Martins. His work can only be described as a frenzy of print heaven; think bursts of florals, print clashes and fashion forward thinking. You might be familiar with his designs already dressing stars such as Beyonce and Amal Clooney but he went one step further also and grasped the attention of the Queen herself ( not just Queen Bey) who attended his show ( her first ever fashion show during London Fashion Week!).
Todays dress I bought online from the Debenhams collabouration. It had been on my mind for so long to do a full review and this particular dress had caught my eye when the line first dropped..I literally couldn’t stop thinking about it and that usually justifies a purchase! It’s the kind of dress that could be worn as a wedding guest look, to the races and to various other formal occasions. It has a half boned corset front which really creates a beautiful curvy silhouette, and the bust line is just made for curves without a doubt! Going through the full collection I find all the pieces are so curve friendly and there is something there for all shapes, tall and petite body types and while the sizing ranges from a 6-20, I hope it’s just the start of many more collections Debenhams will be working on with Richard Quinn as it really is giving something so different and needed to womenswear.
