Over the years, New Years Eve has definitely changed for me. Growing up I always remember it to be an occasion where the whole family dressed up in full glam mode, we spent so many New Years Eve’s in Thailand where glam had a new meaning. It’s something that always stayed with me but over the years in Europe it’s very much a broad style selection from casual chic to Saturday night glam or even just cosy attire, anything goes essentially! But in the last 24 hours I’ve had lots of emergency NYE Fashion requests so while originally this was going to be a regular outfit post I thought I’d add to with with some easy outfit ideas; many of which you probably already have in your wardrobe!
Coast
First up is this look from Coast I picked up two weeks ago. Coast is always one of my key occasionwear go-to stores specifically because you don’t need to think to much about your look. Throw on the dress, add simple accessories and your done! Whats more is that any of my Coast investment pieces have all stood the test of time and are still in immaculate condition years later and alway work for those last minute invites to somewhere formal!

DIY jumpsuit effect ( My favourite!)
Jumpsuits are one of my favourite glam styles but it’s not easy for everyone depending on your body type whether you’re petite, quite tall or perhaps you have a long torso and you find traditional jumpsuit styles tug in the wrong places. Instead look to a DIY option. Look for either a) Wide leg tailored trousers or B) Cigarette style trousers ( Next & River Island are great for these!). Then look to top options which you can blend and sit correctly with them to create a jumpsuit effect.
This can be done by:
– Creating an all black look
-A one shoulder top, halter neck or bodysuit in a contrasting colour but pulled together by a high waisted belt to hide any lines of the trousers
-Adding a peplum top that sits over the trousers to create a different jumpsuit illusion effect
Top ideas to pair with tailored trousers
Black cami top sizes 6-18 here and sizes 18-28 here / Black peplum top sizes 16-26 here / Wrap bodysuit sizes 6-18 here and bigger size options here
Trouser ideas to create that jumpsuit effect
Wide leg green trousers sizes 6-18 here / Tailored cigarette trousers sizes 18-28 here and smaller size options here as well as petite options here / Flared black trousers sizes 8-24 here
The Statement Jacket:
Outfit inspiration: White blazer Littlewoods Ireland (back in June) / Boucle Jacket River Island plus here / Black tailored jacket River Island last season similar here/
Other jacket & blazer ideas:
Leopard blazer sizes 6-18 here / Stripe blazer – Next sizes 8-22 here/ Pink blazer sizes 18-28 here
So it might sound basic or obvious but adding a statement jacket this is one of strongest recommendations all year round no matter what event you have coming up. Particularly when sizing in dresses on the High street can be difficult to come across in certain sizes and at the moment there is a huge selection available in statement jacket finds!
Add some jazz:
Green handbag here / Zebra handbaghere / Silver & green earrings here / Gold handbag here / Gold heels here / Red heels here / Snake print heels here / gold & faux snake print earrings here /Silver sequin heels here /
More often than not the majority of people go out looking for that “ideal outfit” when we end up wearing something we already had in out wardrobe. Look through what you have that you recall being comfortable and easy to wear, and try to explore ways you can revamp it with accessories alone. It means you’re up cycling your wardrobe while have pieces you can reuse with other outfits too! Sometimes its the classic outfit that can be so effective with pops of colour or glitter accessories (which you will most definitely find in the sale sections of most stores around this time of the year!)
Happy New Year my lovelies!
